We have marked national Interfaith Week from 10 – 17th November with the aim of increasing awareness of different faith communities, strengthening interfaith relations, promoting understanding between people of different faiths and beliefs and celebrating the contributions of people from all faiths and none in society.
TCfR have worked closely with Hilal Ozdemir, volunteer from the Dialogue Society to plan this interfaith evening where she prepared Noah’s pudding, the oldest pudding in the world. (See recipe below).
The following guests participated Sewak Singh Nijjar - Sikh, Rachel Philip - Chair of Lincolnshire Jewish Association, Casmir Maazure - LDS, Mark Lilley - Quaker, Sanjay Nimavet - Chair of Lincoln Balagokulam and Chair of Lincolnshire Faith Council, Selim Korfez and Betul Caglar from the Dialogue society.
The messages that echoed throughout the evening were oneness, one family, peace, silence, listening, harmony and working together.
Two young speakers, Selim Korfez and Betul Caglar, spoke about the Dialogue Society and it is registered as a charity and was established in London in 1999. For more info https://www.dialoguesociety.org.
Lincoln and Lincolnshire faith communities are united, and our Lincolnshire Faith Council is a living testament and strengthening and working together is at the core of the organisation. We have been working on the interfaith peace kitchen and we have secured funding to launch the kitchen in early 2025.
Faith communities are working together to address the cost of living crisis and support the Lincoln Hygiene Bank. Currently Jewish and Hindu communities with LFC together are working on the winter appeal raising donations for the Lincoln Hygiene bank through their Mitzvah and Sewa Day. You are welcome to join on Sunday 24th 12 – 2pm at Central Methodist Church to help sort the donations raised.
