This year faith communities came together to collect hygiene donations for the Lincoln Hygiene Bank to boost the number of donations ready for winter. Sunday 24th November we came together at Central Methodist Church to collect and sort the donations.
The Lincolnshire Jewish community supported this appeal for Mitzvah Day and the Hindu community (Lincoln Balagokulam and Lincs Indian Society) supported it for Sewa and collected hygiene products at the Navratri and Diwali celebrations. The donations collected through this appeal will supported the Lincoln Hygiene Bank sessions across the city.
The session at Central Methodist Church, that launched in September, is becoming busier and busier each session and will help us stock the new hygiene session launching shortly at St Giles Methodist Church. This session will meet twice a week and run along side their food larder and we know this will be a busy session.
The donations from this appeal will help us help more families struggling with hygiene poverty this winter – energy prices recently increased and are to increase again in the new year and food is ever increasing in price so supporting people in need with hygiene will hopefully mean they can afford a little more for food or heating.
